Shakespeare In The Park

Performed by Santa Cruz Shakespeare, a local theater group formed almost a decade ago, Shakespeare In The Park runs from the beginning of July to the end of August. The troupe hosts their event in Audrey Stanley Grove at DeLaveaga Park—a gorgeous outdoor venue surrounded by large trees.

This year, Santa Cruz Shakespeare delves into the popular theatrical works, The Taming of the Shrew and King Lear, as well as the comedic play, The Book of Will, about a group of offbeat individuals who struggle to preserve the great playwright’s works.

Shakespeare In The Park happens almost daily, with both afternoon and evening performances on weekends. There are, however, age restrictions: children under six are not allowed, except on designated days.

Movies On The Beach

Back for another year is Movies On The Beach! This local favorite is absolutely free, and takes place on the sands just off of the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Guests are invited to bring their own blankets, towels, snacks, and beach chairs to enjoy the fun, family-friendly movies being projected on the big screen.

This event runs all summer long, from mid-June to mid-August, every Friday evening at 9pm. Movies include The Lost Boys (which was filmed in Santa Cruz), Space Jam, Selena, Shrek, Top Gun: Maverick, Mamma Mia!, and more. Each show has an intermission and spaces are limited.
