With endless festivals and events for the whole family, autumn in Santa Cruz is just as exciting as summertime.

The Big East Side Block Party

Date: August 30th

Location: Pono Hawaiian Kitchen & Tap

To close off the summer season, visit Pono Hawaiian Kitchen & Tap for the Big East Side Block Party.

This event has incredible music and food that will keep you entertained for hours. There will also be tons of vendors, selling everything from artisanal crafts to locally made food.

Some of the vendors include Happy Dog Hot Dogs, Venus Spirits, Follow The Sun Art, and Pretty Nails By Jenny.

Not only is this block party great for adults, the kids will love it too. There will be a petting zoo with baby goats and other cute farm animals.

If you're planning on joining the party, bring your own cup! This block party is trying to reduce single-use plastics as much as possible.

Downtown Santa Cruz Antique Street Faire

Date: September 8th

Location: Lincoln Street between Pacific and Cedar

The Downtown Santa Cruz Antique Street Faire is an ongoing event that happens every 2nd Sunday of the month.

Antique vendors from across town display an eclectic blend of antiques, from furniture to clothing. This is a great place to go if you love searching through unique goods.

Annual Santa Cruz County Fair

Date: September 11th - 15th

Location: Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds

The county fair is back in Santa Cruz! This is one of the most loved fairs by young families and kids for its wide array of carnival rides and games.

There is an endless amount of delicious carnival food, like hot dogs, pizza, and chicken fingers.

The fair opens at 12:00pm and closes at 10:00pm. If you miss one of the first dates, you don’t have to worry--the event is on for five whole days.

37th Annual Capitola Art & Wine Festival

Date: September 14th

Location: Capitola Village, Esplanade Park

Join in on the 37th Annual Capitola Art & Wine Festival happening in Capitola Village and Esplanade Park. This vibrant event is the perfect combination or art, wine, music, and food.

While overlooking Monterey Bay, view art from over 150 fine artists and sip wine from 22 Santa Cruz Mountain wineries.

This year’s festival also has an artisan marketplace where you can sample locally made foods and purchase unique crafts.

You can bring the entire family to this exciting event. Children will have endless fun at the Kids Zone where there is art and music, as well as hands on activities.

Capitola Beach Festival

This year marks the 2nd annual Capitola Beach Festival where party-goers can enjoy fun events over the whole weekend.

There’s a three-mile fun run hosted by the Wharf to Wharf, as well as a horseshoe tournament, a lighted nautical parade, and a fishing derby.

But the fun doesn’t stop there! You can enter into the sand sculpture contest and the chalk art event to show off your artistic talents. One of the most popular events at this beach festival is the rowboat races. Participate or cheer for your friends to paddle as fast as they can!

During the evenings, you can dance and sing at the outdoor concerts at Esplanade Park.

Boardwalk Bites and Brews

Date: September 28th

Location: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

Event Information

This great Santa Cruz event offers the perfect blend of amusement park food and the regions best craft beers.

As you walk along the city’s beach boardwalk, sample tasty foods, like corn dogs, garlic fries, and chocolate covered bacon. You can pair these meals with a cold pint of beer made from local breweries.

These breweries are challenged to pick their best brew to pair with these carnival foods.
