October is almost here, which means apple cider and pumpkin spice are everywhere you turn. With autumn officially upon us, it’s time to settle in to some cozy fall-centered activities.

If your calendar is currently lacking autumnal spirit, the Santa Cruz community has you covered. Here are 6 great fall events in Santa Cruz 2018 for you and your family to enjoy.

1. Farm Fest October 2018

When: October 6th from 3-6PM

Where: Costanoa Commons Farm

Costanoa Commons Farm welcomes the Santa Cruz community to Farm Fest 2018: an afternoon filled with friends, food, drink and music.

Perfect for kids, Farm Fest offers face-painting and art projects in the creativity barn, along with tours of the farm for the whole family. Don’t miss this opportunity to get in the harvest spirit and kick off the great fall events in Santa Cruz 2018.

2. Fall Rotary Social

When: October 9th from 5:30-7:30PM

Where: Kaiser Permanente Area

Calling all Rotary Club members and prospective Rotarians!

The Fall Rotary Social is bound to be an exciting event, complete with light appetizers and drinks for Rotarians across Santa Cruz County. There’s even a Rotarian Free Throw Contest, awarding the winner with a free pair of lower level Golden State Warrior tickets.

3. Equinox Library Wine Party

When: October 13th from 7-9PM

Where: Equinox Winery

If pumpkins, scary movies, and face-painting aren’t really my thing, am I excluded from the fall festivities?

Our answer: not at all. If the typical fall events in Santa Cruz don’t particularly thrill you, perhaps you’ll be enticed by this next event’s focus: world-class wine.

For one night only, Equinox Winery will be opening its doors to share a wide selection of limited-edition, beautifully aged Equinox and Bartolo wines.

Enjoy an evening with friends sampling these gorgeous wines, and maybe even bring home an early Christmas gift for a loved one or the perfect bottle to complement your holiday table. Tickets are $25 for wine club members and $50 for the public, including tasting, snacks, and live entertainment.

4. 13 Days of Halloween on the Wharf

When: October 19th-31st (all day)

Where: Santa Cruz Wharf

This next fall event in Santa Cruz 2018 is the ultimate destination for ghostly fun.

Looking for a Halloween event for the kids?

Good news - throughout all 13 days of this event, the Wharf will host The Great Pumpkin BINGO Hunt.

On Halloween night, the Wharf’s finale will feature trick-or-treating, and an opportunity for young ghosts and goblins to meet and take pictures with their favorite Wharf characters.

In the mood for apple cider and all-ages fun?

The Kick Off on October 19th features free hot apple cider, games, and a Halloween-inspired photo booth for locals to enjoy. The evening of October 27th will play host to Zombie Night, complete with a Thriller Zombie Dance and loads of spooky fun for all ages.

13 Days of Halloween on the Wharf is the epitome of seasonal fun, and is sure to be a great fall event in Santa Cruz 2018.

5. Wilder Ranch Heritage Harvest Festival

When: October 20th to 11AM-4PM

Where:Wilder Ranch State Park

Come celebrate the harvest!

This wonderfully autumnal event includes tractor, draft horse, and living history demonstrations for Santa Cruz residents to ponder. Listen to music and participate in harvest-time activities for the family.

Along with other exciting fall fare, the Heritage Harvest Festival features (you guessed it)...

...apple cider. Delicious, hand-pressed apple cider, to be exact! To top it off, this event is open to all ages with free admission, aside from day-use parking of $10.

6. Santa Cruz Chili Cook-Off

When: October 27th from 10AM-3PM

Where: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

Our last great fall event in Santa Cruz feature is none other than the great Chili Cook Off.

Amateurs and professionals will face off in this epic battle, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Teen Kitchen Project.
