Situated on the northern edge of Monterey Bay, Sunset State Beach is part of the city of Watsonville, California. It is most well-known as a camping destination, with a number of facilities offered, and, as its name suggests, it showcases gorgeous sunsets. As characteristic of the beaches in the bayfront region (such as the neighboring Manresa State Beach, to the north, and Palm Beach State Park, to the south), Sunset State Beach is considered a hidden gem—and much quieter and less crowded than similar-sized parks in the county.
