As technology has evolved, so too have our daily habits. Learn more about how to make your home more interconnected with these ultra-modern, high-tech gadgets that can help simplify your living an add value to your home.

Phillips Hue LED Light Bulbs

Remember the ‘Clapper’? Imagine that, but modernized. Hue light bulbs allow you to fully customize the light in your home. Did you forget to turn the lights off? Want to change the mood of the room? Well, there’s an app for that. The bulbs come with a fully selectable spectrum of colors and light that’s programmable through the smartphone and online app.

Bluetooth Deadbolts & Locks

Has your kid lost their home keys again? Are you sick of fumbling with your keys while juggling things like groceries bags and trying to get in the door? These popular smart locks are designed to work with the Bluetooth on your phone. While each of the lock is a little bit unique in their own way, the general idea is that the door will unlock whenever you (and your phone) are near. Interested? Smart Thermostats

Nest thermostatThese Wi-Fi and sensor enabled thermostats learn your habits and adapt themselves accordingly to help reduce home heating costs and save you money. You can program the temperatures like a normal thermostat, but when you leave the home is when the real magic happens. It will automatically sense when the home is empty and lower the temperature, and raise it again when you’re around. It also comes with an app that lets you set the temperature from afar. Going on a trip? The thermostat will adjust accordingly while you’re gone and you can set it to heat or cool before you get home. Retails for around $250. Brands to mention: Nest, Ecovent, Ecobee

Wi-fi & Bluetooth Speakers

Cords are a thing of the past. Never again will you have to worry about how to hide the cords, or drilling holes in the drywall to run speakers for surround sound. Place speakers where you want them at any time and have amazing sound anywhere in your home. Bose and Sonos are two of the current developers of these speakers, but we'll probaby see more manufactureres jumping on the bandwagon soon enough.

Smarter Coffee - Wi-fi Coffee Machine

This was made for Mondays. While the invention of the programmable coffee maker was pretty impressive, it pales in comparison to having the ability to turn on your coffee maker when you want, even without leaving your bed. Meet Smarter Coffee, the first bean-to-cup brewer with Wi-Fi connectivity that allows you to start your cup of joe from an app on your smartphone.

Husqvarna Automower Solar Hybrid

The iRobot Roomba was just the start of robotic home upkeep. The Husqvarna Automower Solar Hybrid is essentially a Roomba for your lawn. The solar panels on top of the device harness some of the energy it requires from the sun, then returns back to its docking device to recharge when its battery is running low. The device only uses about $20 per year in electricity, which is a pretty small price to pay for having a fabulous lawn all year round.

WeMo Switch

The WeMo switch is another Wi-Fi enabled device that can be controlled with the touch of a finger via the app. It plugs into any conventional light socket, and works like a buffer between the socket and whatever it's plugged into it. Do you ever forget to unplug your flat iron, or are paranoid that you left the stove on? Never live in fear again with this handy tech. Control the WeMo Switch on the go from wherever you might be. Just be sure not to plug your Wi-Fi router into one of these handy gadgets.
